Featured Artists and Musicians

“I might have been inspired had I not missed my morning cup of coffee but for the music in my ears and the art on my eyes I drew myself once more into the world of my imagination.”

Thank you to all the artists and musicians for keeping our spirits alive.

NIck of Swords

Nick of Swords is an ambient electronic artist and producer based out of North Adams, Massachusetts. From hypnotizing vocal loops and experimental synthesis to heart pumping rhythms, Nick uncovers the mind and emotions by creating a dreamy atmosphere in which blends the likes of ambient, dance and alternative pop rock music into a surreal sound that embraces both light and darkness. Exploratory yet nostalgic.

Robert Lafond

For me, painting the world that I live in is a way to re-create it and possess it in a loving, sympathetic way.  My approach to painting is to build up marks and brushstrokes that become an image which cannot avoid reflecting my emotional response to what I see.  And hopefully this aggregation of paint positively affects the viewer as well, while it also resembles what I am looking at.  My middle initial H is for “Henri”.  So, amusingly, I’ve always been conscious of being Robert Henri Lafond.  The painter Robert Henri wrote, "Your painting is the marking of your progression into nature, a sensation of something you see way beyond two pretty colors over there.  Don't stop to paint the material, but push on to give the spirit."

The ART Seen at Williams College

The Art Seen is the student art gallery at Williams College. It's independently run by Nick Garlid '25, with a focus on supporting student artists and making their art as accessible as possible to the larger Williams community and beyond.

The goal is twofold: to make art as accessible as possible, and to support students in their creative endeavors. Luckily, these two goals work together. The Art Seen gives students a place to begin to establish themselves as artists (and make a little money while they’re at it). At the same time, the art is affordable enough to be an option to just about anyone–in a way that original art rarely is. The end result is simple: a world with more art everywhere, accessible to both artists and art lovers
